About the episode
In this episode we follow Fred Campbell as he travels to the foothills of the Rocky Mountains and the famous Bow River to meet with “The Knowledge Keepers” who have been reconnecting people to the land through Indigenous traditions and stories.
He will be fly fishing the Bow River with the gentle giant Quinn Soonias, packing a horse and shooting a bow with the archeress Tracey Klettl, and walking the forests with the inspirational Brenda Holder. Fred is there to reconnect with the outdoors in a new way - one that is rooted in Indigenous ways of knowing, learning, and experiencing the wilderness.
Quinn Soonias
Quinn’s guiding experience is extensive, and his knowledge and understanding of the famous Bow River - one of the most renowned fly fishing rivers in the world - is comprehensive. It’s his favorite hang out, his backyard, his happy place… and he loves nothing more than sharing his favorite runs, riffles and grassy banks with you.
Tracey Klettl
Tracey is a descendant of the Cree and Mohawk people from the area which is now Jasper National Park. She is an English riding Instructor, level one guide for the new Equine Canada Trail Riding program and an Archery Coach.
Brenda Seeley Holder
Brenda is a professional interpretive guide and is an active advocate of Indigenous Tourism. She is a board member for the Interpretive Guides Association and represents Aboriginal Interpretive Guides. She is the Chair for the Indigenous Tourism Association of Canada and is the Alberta Director.
